How Do You know if you’re With the Right Person?

Sometimes there are times when we are dating someone and we cannot see that they are totally wrong for us. The people around us try and tell us time and time again that so-and-so is wrong for us, but we ignore them. If you begin to notice these things yourself, maybe it’s time to sever ties with the no-good guy/gal that you’re currently dating.

You Begin to Censor Yourself

One big sign that you’re with the wrong person is if you notice that you’re changing who you are whenever you with them. You censor the things you say around them and your whole demeanor changes. Your friends and family notices and maybe they even commented on it. When people start commenting on it, maybe it’s time to take a step back and reevaluate things.

You’re Not Happy

Now this may sound like a no brainer, but you would be surprised at how many people stay with someone even though they aren’t happy. Now, this doesn’t mean you’re miserable (I should hope if you’re miserable you have the sense to leave), but you’re kind of in a limbo. You’re complacent and it’s just a “Oh it’s you…” type of thing. If you feel like this whenever your partner calls, texts, or you see them… Maybe it’s time to say sayonara.

You Can’t Picture a Future Together

If you’ve been dating someone for a while, it’s only natural that you can picture yourself sharing a future with them—whether it is a white picket fence and marriage or jet setting across the globe. If you can’t see past the now with that person, then there probably isn’t a future there. The sooner that you can recognize this, the better it will be for you and that other person.

You don’t Know Each Other’s Friends

If you’re dating someone and you don’t introduce them to your friends (and vice versa) there’s a problem. It’s okay if you don’t introduce them to your friends if it’s just a casual relationship or it is still new; but, if you’ve been seeing the person for any significant amount of time, maybe you should ask yourself why aren’t bringing them around your friends (and vice versa).

Opposites Don’t Always Attract

You know the saying that opposites attract? That isn’t always the case. Sometimes personalities complement each other well; like a scatter brained individual may gravitate toward someone more grounded or someone with an artistic flair may find that they enjoy the company of someone who is more intellectual. There are some opposites that can cause havoc on a relationship though. If a neat freak dates a slob, there is definitely going to be some problems. When it comes to dating someone who is different from you, you have to take a step back and see what things you can and cannot overlook.
